THE HUG - Footbridge

Our proposal challenges the functional domination and conventional preoccupations on the footbridge typology in British rail stations by redefining it as a welcoming space of arrival. Inspired by the continuity and weaving form of railway tracks, our design rebrands the footbridge as a continuous three-dimensional ribbon. The new space and structure creates a strong image for the footbridge while accommodating all the essential technical constraints.
